Dry filters, latched bin and secured attachments before use
Dry filters, latched bin and secured attachments before use. Original guide illustration; compare the parts with your manual.

1. Match the model and parts

Read SV10 on the machine label and compare your parts with manual 229602-01. Filter A has a small pinch handle; Filter B twists off the rear. A star-shaped top is a different version. Confirm the dry motorized head in this manual before following a brush task.

Region: US

Parts: Pinch-handle Filter A and twist-off Filter B; original dry motorized head

Not covered: V8 star pre-filter; V8 Cyclone; Soft roller / Fluffy head cleaning; V10 / V11; Modified batteries or aftermarket heads.

Read all possible routes

Is the charger disconnected, the machine cool and undamaged, and your hand away from the trigger?

  • Yes — Continue with the matching parts and the checks below.
  • No — Stop for a damaged charger, burning smell, liquid exposure, a swollen or leaking battery, broken catches or an obstruction you cannot safely reach. Contact Dyson and keep the battery sealed.
  • Not sure — Save your observations and compare the matching manual before continuing.

Was either filter washed during the maintenance session you are checking now?

  • Yes — Open Wash the pre-filter or Wash the post-filter below to finish the saved drying interval and dry refit. This check cannot replace either filter task.
  • No — Continue only with filters that stayed dry throughout this bin, airway or brush care.
  • Not sure — Save your observations and compare the matching manual before continuing.

Are both filters already completely dry and fitted, with the bin, attachments and any removed fastener present and undamaged?

  • Yes — Inspect the existing dry fit before the trigger is used.
  • No — Restore the correct components using their own tasks; a washed filter must finish its timed task and damage needs support.
  • Not sure — Save your observations and compare the matching manual before continuing.

4. Follow and record

Complete the checks before recording physical work. Follow steps in order.

  1. Review the completed care

Record the completed bin, airway or brush care. Confirm both filters stayed dry throughout it. If either filter was washed during this session, stop here and use its saved filter task instead.

Look for: Recent washing is handled in the timed Filter A and Filter B tasks linked below.

Manual: p11 Vacuuming; Washing the filters; p12 Looking for blockages
  2. Check both filter positions

Check that Filter A is seated in the top and Filter B is in its normal locked rear position. Both must be dry.

Look for: No damp, missing or loosely seated filter is acceptable for use.

Manual: p11 Vacuuming; Washing the filters; p12 Looking for blockages
  3. Check the clear bin

Confirm the bin catch holds, the cyclone is down and the base is latched. Check the dirt remains below MAX.

Look for: A base that springs open or a catch that will not hold requires support.

Manual: p11 Emptying the clear bin; Cleaning the clear bin
  4. Check the attachment chain

Confirm the wand and matching head are secured by their catches. If the brush bar was removed, confirm its marked fastener holds it firmly.

Look for: No loose part or object is near the brush.

Manual: p12 Looking for blockages; p10 Direct drive cleaner head: Clearing obstructions; p11 Operation
  5. Choose a suitable test surface

Check the flooring maker’s recommendations and remove foreign objects from the tool underside. Use a suitable dry area and keep hands, hair and clothing away from moving parts.

Look for: The check uses ordinary floor pickup, without sharp or hot test debris.

Manual: p11 Carpets or hard floors; Vacuuming
  6. Record normal use

Run briefly as in normal cleaning. Record pickup, brush behavior and any pulsing. Release the trigger and stop for abnormal heat, noise or recurring trouble.

Look for: An unchanged symptom is a useful support record, not a reason for repeated test runs.

Manual: p11 Vacuuming; Washing the filters; p12 Looking for blockages
  7. Save the next action

If operation improved, keep the care and result record. If a symptom remains, select its matching troubleshooting task or contact Dyson with the observations.

Look for: The result describes the observation; a completed webpage does not certify a repaired appliance.

Manual: p11 Vacuuming; Washing the filters; p12 Looking for blockages

5. Keep your result

Record what you observed. A completed checklist does not certify that equipment is repaired.

When to check again

Bin, airway or brush care is complete and neither filter was washed during this maintenance session.

As needed for this condition. No fixed calendar interval is specified for this check; choose your own review date if useful.
